Restrictions and requirements
On the river section from Tørring to Klostermølle there are restrictions on the numbers of vessels allowed and all navigation must be registered:
• If you navigate a rented vessel from an approved boat rental firm, the registration is included in the hire contract and you do not need to purchase a guest number.
• If you are a local resident, then your vessel must display a resident number and it will not need a guest number.
• If none of the above apply (and this is the case for most turists), then you need to purchase a guest number and to display it on the vessel.
There are restrictions on the types of vessels allowed on the Tørring to Klostermølle section. The below mentioned vessels are permitted:
• 2 and 3 persons canoes and 1 and 2 persons kayaks.
• Stand Up Paddling boards (only single-person SUPs)
• Rowboats are permitted on Naldal Sø and Vestbirk Sø in addition to the above-mentioned types of vessels.
It is not allowed to navigate any kind of motorised vessels on the stretch from Tørring to Klostermølle.
The river from Tørring to Klostermølle is only open for navigation from 16th June to 31th December
Guest registration numbers for non-motorised vessels is only required on the Tørring to Klostermølle section of the river Gudenå. This means that if you wish to navigate the river north of Klostermølle you can do so without permission or guest number in non-motorised vessels.
However, please note that timber rafts and the like always requires permission from the local municipality regardless of whether the vessel carries a engine or not - read more elsewhere on the website.
Please contact the local municipality if you wish to navigate other types of non-motorised vessels than those mentioned above (fx. timber rafts). Please allow at least 8 weeks processing time.

How do I purchase of a guest number?

The price of a guest number is 75 DKK and it is valid for 5 days.
A maximum of 50 guest numbers are available per week and every vessel requires 1 number.
Before purchasing a guest number, you need to know when you which to go sailing and how many people are to take part, as you will be required to submit this information on the application form. You can order more than one guest number at a time. All payment must be made online, so a payment card is required.
It is NOT possible to change you order (date, numbers, etc.) after you have paid. Find the link to the terms and conditions on the bottom of this page.
The product you buy is a number (you guest number) which you can print from the website or from the e-mail which will be send to your e-mail address. If you lose the e-mail you can contacting the local municipality – see information at the bottom of the page.
How do I display the guest number?
Print the guest number, put it in a plastic cover and place it on the vessel with a glue, tape or such like. You must place the guest number on the side of the vessel - near the front. If the vessel is a SUP board then place the number on top of the board.
